Announced the official title of the reboot of Resident Evil film

During a recent promotional interview, director Johannes Roberts revealed new details about the upcoming reboot of the Resident Evil film saga, which will adapt the plot of the first two video games of the famous horror series and will be played by Kaya Scodelario. The director explained that his film, which will be titled 'Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City', has nothing to do with the Milla Jovovich saga and will directly follow the video games.

"We are not doing a remake of those films, we are going in a completely different direction and we will adapt the first two chapters of the video games." The cast includes, in addition to Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, also Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough as William Birkin with Donal Logue as Chief Irons.

Roberts added: "The thing I really liked about the games is that they were scary as hell and that's just what I wanted for the movie. That atmosphere, with the rain, the constant darkness, that sense of unease. the film is like a character, rotten and scary, the main character in the film. " To further state this point, Johannes Roberts cited John Carpenter as a great source of inspiration.

Specifically, he mentioned a couple of the horror master's classics, like Assault on Precinct 13 and The Fog. "I'm a huge fan of John Carpenter and have been inspired by films like Assault on Precinct 13 and The Fog, with this diverse group of characters coming together under siege."

Recall that, in addition to Welcome to Raccoon City, Resident Evil will arrive on Netflix with a live-action series and an animated series in CGI entitled Infinite Darkness. 'Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City' currently has a release date set for September 9th.
