Review of Army of Thieves: Netflix's new heist movie delivers on what it promises

'Army Of Thieves' Movie Review:
The universe that Zack Snyder has assembled with "Army of the Dead" paints me zero. Really, Snyder's zombie movie seems like a good way to torture yourself for 7 hours, yes, because approximately with that rhythm and those characters that don't interest anyone, that's how long the movie seems to be.

And no, I have nothing against Zack Snyder, he has very interesting things, I just think that "Army of the Dead" is a tostón who does not know what he wants to be, and the truth is that I have liked him less over time, each time the more I think about her, the worse it seems to me.

And of course, when you don't like the first movie in a saga, we are going badly, because the interest decreases considerably. That is why "Army of Thieves" I have seen it for the same reason that I faced square roots in school, out of obligation, because it is my job.

I would have ended up seeing it because precisely Ludwig Dieter, even though many people did not like it, convinced me a lot and I laughed a couple of times with him. In fact, it seemed to me that "Army of the Dead" was not very redeemable, and even so it did not arouse much interest in me.

And as you may have already guessed from the title of the article and from this typical narrative that is chosen when one wants to surprise with his opinion, from the purest pessimism, yes, I liked "Army of Thieves".

I have enjoyed it quite a bit, probably as a result of the low expectations with which I was going to see the film, but aware that it is an entertaining film and above all quite interesting at the directing level. Matthias Schweighöfer, in charge of playing the main character, is also directing the film after a couple of little-known German films and he really does it very well.

I don't want to compare this movie to "Army of the Dead", but at the pace level, it is light years away from Zack Snyder's. A dynamic montage, a well-told, and interesting story, and characters that are much cooler than those of "Army of the Dead". It is not that the cast is a prodigy, really, but between Matthias Schweighöfer and Nathaniel Emmanuel, we have enough charisma for the two hours (this time well assimilable) that the film lasts.

One of the things that annoyed me the most about "Army of the Dead" is that it sold that it was a dynamic and explosive zombie movie, which didn't turn out to be the case at all. "Army of Thieves" made it clear that it would bet on robbery movies and not only does it but also does it well, with a neat, interesting narration, and with the right winks to the movie from which it comes.

In short, "Army of Thieves" is a very funny movie, very good entertainment and with a duo, Matthias Schweighöfer and Nathaniel Emmanuel, very charismatic. Don't ask the elm for pears either, it's not "Ocean's" but if you like robbery movies I'm sure you'll have a good time, and at least it makes us regain a little hope in this zombie project by Zack Snyder al that it has been difficult for him to start ...

Plus Points

  • An interesting and dynamic address
  • Matthias Schweighöfer and Nathaniel Emmanuel, are very charismatic
  • A good heist movie
  • Much higher than Snyder's, especially at the rhythm level

Minus Points

  • The story is still lacking a spark; the climax doesn't finish working
  • The characters are still very lazy except for a couple
  • Could have had a lot more action

Duration: 129 min.
