Ryan Gosling negotiates to be the Ken of Margot Robbie's 'Barbie'

It has been known for quite some time that Margot Robbie will step into the shoes of Barbie. And now everything seems to indicate that the doll would have found her Ken, for the tape that she will feature Greta Gerwin in the director's chair.

According to the Deadline site, actor Ryan Gosling is in negotiations to play Barbie's famous love interest. According to the site, it was not an easy task to convince the interpreter to join the project.

Apparently, Gosling was the first and only option for Warner Bros. to play Ken, a role that the actor rejected for a long time. But he would have changed his mind and finally agreed to join Robbie as a co-star.

Now that the leads are cast, the Barbie movie is likely to finally begin filming shortly. The first time this film was talked about was in 2009 when the project was in the hands of Sony and with Diablo Cody as the scriptwriter.

A few years later, Barbie changed the protagonist again, with Hilary Winston as the screenwriter and Amy Schumer in the role of the protagonist doll. Since then, the project has stalled again until Robbie and Warner Bros.

took it over in 2018. Originally it was to be Patty Jenkins, the woman behind Wonder Woman, in charge of directing. A year later, the name of Greta Gerwig came into play, she was finally left as director and screenwriter with Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story).

Now everything finally seems ready and in motion to bring the famous Mattel doll to life. Notably, there are no plot details at the moment, but with Gerwig and Baumbach as the masterminds behind this, it can be assumed that the final product will be surprising.

Barbie does not have a release date, but filming is likely to begin sometime in 2022.
